Biography: 

Cheryl Capezzuti is a visual artist and puppetmaker who joined the Falk faculty on a part-time basis in 2010. Prior to her arrival at Falk, Capezzuti worked as a visiting artist through the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and as a master teaching artist for Gateway to the Arts. She is a past consultant to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts on art education issues and is currently on the Board of Directors for The Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.  In addition to teaching at Falk, Capezzuti is a visiting lecturer in the Education Department at Duquesne University where she teaches visual arts methods to both undergraduate and graduate students.

 

As a practicing artist Capezzuti is best known for giant puppets made out of recycled materials and other remnants of everyday life. She is the creative force behind a number of interactive, public art projects including The National Lint Project, Everyday Art Assignments, The First Night Pittsburgh Parade and Puppets for Pittsburgh. She and her artistic partner Kellee Van Aken have a small puppet theater company, Fuzzy Boundary Productions, and have produced a number of original theatrical works including Mismatched Pair, Colorfast and Stuff. Her visual art work is exhibited nationally and has been featured on The Ellen Degeneres Show.
