Biography:

After teaching in public schools in Kanawha County WV for 5 years, I began my tenure at Falk in August 1979 as a middle school English and social studies teacher.  After 8 years I transferred into the primary level, teaching for one year in the satellite classroom at LRDC (a K-3 experimental classroom) and then for the next 21 years in room 116 where I taught various combinations of K, 1 and 2.  I began working as the second librarian in August 2009.

I belong to PSLA, WPSLA, NCTE, CLA (Children's Literature Assembly of NCTE),  PCTELA, WPCTE, and PAISTA.  Years ago I served one term as President of PAISTA, and I'm currently the Vice President of WPCTE.   Through WPCTE I've helped plan and run an English Festival for grades 4-6. I live with my husband, son (a graduate of Falk, currently at Pitt), 2 cats and a dog.  To relax I read (of course!), watch movies, and play games such as mahjongg, pinochle, and Mexican train dominoes.  I occasionally help my husband with yard work by digging up dandelions.
