Alumni Giving
A Tradition of Giving Back
At Falk School, our alumni families have a wonderfully warm history of giving back. Traditionally, efforts towards fundraising at Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School were, as with most laboratory schools, not consistent from year to year or in some cases, from decade to decade. And like most K-8 schools, the fundraising was aimed at current families. Yet historically, many of our donations and especially our most generous donations, arrived unsolicited from an alum--- enclosed within handwritten notes of appreciation about life and learning at Falk School.
This same generosity is evident in alumni events and alumni visits. Dedicated alumni brought to us the Falk School reunions held to date. For Falk's 75th anniversary, alumni from the classes of 1950 and 1951 spent countless hours compiling, producing and publishing a book, full of Falk history and alumni profiles from the classes of 1939-1974. Other alumni have contacted us to arrange a school visit wherein they co-teach a class or make a presentation. More recently, alumni who've read about the opening of our green addition and renovated building have stopped by to see the new space, reminisce, share stories and give praise to former teachers. We are so grateful that our alumni keep coming back and giving back to inspire, strengthen and support our community of learners.

MANY THANKS to our 2010-2011 alumni donors!
We are forever grateful to all members of the Falk community who gave in support of our FALK SCHOOL BUILDING RENOVATION FUND this past year. This fund continues to be a priorty fund because every gift is almost doubled in value for the school. There is a 1.8 ratio on any early payment. This means a donation of $1,000 is equal to a $1,800 loan payment. A $100 payment is equal to a $180 loan payment for the school. A $10 donation is equal to an $18 loan payment. It is similar to when a homeowner makes an extra mortgage payment each year.
In addition, the donations given to the Falk School Education Fund this past year continued to support the progrees of our School-ground Habitat Enhancement & Restoration Project.
A warm THANK YOU to all of our 2009-2010 alumni donors!
We are proud to announce that the four funds we asked our community to support this year, the Falk School Education Fund, Falk School Scholarship Fund, Roy J. Creek Excellence in Teaching Fund, and the PA EITC Fund, all received a record number of donations this year. Current and past families, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, grandparents, the Falk School Fund, corporations and the School of Education have all reached out to support us.
Gifts this year enabled us to offer every student a chance to collaborate with an artist-in-residence. Beautiful glass mosaic windows and awesome puppet heads now illuminate the school environment. Teachers and students participated in naturalist training and the school is just beginning its work on the Schoolground Habitat Enhancement and Restoration Project. Our doors remain open to many deserving students and renovations are almost finished and many donors honored Dr. Vollmer for 30 years of teaching by donating to the Excellence in Teaching Fund!

What Makes Falk Special
The teachers are so nice and I've learned a lot! I like how the school is not too big so everybody knows each other."
